Remix or your tune?

I know this song, but I am struggling to remember it. I will PM you once i remberer it or if this is a remix, can you tell me the name of it?

i9incher responds:

the song isn't a remix, but that first lead synth is a sample that you get from the z3enster (or whatever it's called) pack so that is most likely what you are hearing.

Generic to a point, lol

They may have had the same drum beat throughout, but surely they had a better tune going over the top? Songs on the radio these days are getting worse IMO.

What are you on about?

Fills need attention

Guy below nailed it at 1:47, needs something to fill in properly there. A few crashes would add to the overall feel of the song too. Play around with acid throughout the song at some point too, always makes for good fun and sounds good too. I think the snare at the start is distracting too, but that might just be me.

FL7?

Sounds like the presets from FL7 like Chasse? I would recommend changing your main tune that you have at the start to a different lead sound. And if you are using FL7, get FL9 for a more updated sound pack to use.

MisterJayElectro responds:

Yes, Chasse in FL8 actually (basically the same thing). And I'll probably upgrade soon; it seems imminent, but as of now I'm just not ready for the big difference I heard about. But thanks a lot for the input :) Over the past few days I've considered redoing all my songs, so I'll probably take your advice :)

Gabber Drum! :)

I love gabber and hardcore but alot of people on NG don't so brace yourself, lol. I found out the hard way so only post dance/techno tunes on here now.

Maybe fade some things in and out like the old skool hardcore in the thunderdome compilations, always sounded good.

Spaceballs is awesome movie too, so you have combined to things I like into one hence 10/10 :)

gavkay21 responds:

Yeah i totally agree there should be a hardcore section in the audio portal

Video Game maybe???

I just read your comment and listened to the song and straight away it made me think of the video game category by the sounds you have used. I can't really pin point which category this would go in either, lol. Catchy tune though :)

Percussion & leads

Good effort, but I believe you need more percussion added (more open & closed hihats). Also, you have big bass explosions on top of drums which I never do as it loses the explosion/stab effect as it gets muffled with the kick drum.

The lead at 1:14 might need note adjustments for the quick notes you added at the end or maybe a different lead sound...not sure???

Overall, I really liked the main melody and the beginning was awesome. Try breaking the tune up with some breaks in the middle to add some length to the tune but still keep it interesting.

DjRA88 responds:

Thanks for your review :) I changed up the song quite a bit and reposted it as
"Adrenalite". I lengthened it by almost double and hopefully kept it interesting as well lol

Chill out track

This is a nice relaxing chillout track that I would almost class as Trance but I think Techno is the right category. The main lead has some notes that may need a touch up but overall everything mixes nicely and is well mastered. :)

Tyurru responds:

Thanks, yeah i was debating over Trance or Techno but i took a random guess lol, glad you liked it :D
I originally started it for a Games Design course but it didn't fit in with my project so its been a side thing for a while :) so had some time to attempt to perfect it! :D

Many Thanks

Wicked track...

Wicked track with awesome fills and a very decent length! It can be hard to reach the 5min mark and still entertain someone throughout the song especially without words and you managed to do it!

Indigorain responds:

Thanks!! it's an honor :D

Nice track...

You missed out on a star because as you said it isn't finished yet but so far it sounds good. Will be good to hear vocals and real guitar layers over the top of it.

I think there is one synth that needs a volume adjustment too or a slight equalisation.

Good luck with the project!

PS. I want a 909 drum machine!

EraldoCoil responds:

Grazie. Thanks for the review. I'm not sure which synth you're talking about, though. As for the 909, I don't have a real one - only the one in the Shan Soundfont, which you can find here:

It's free and very great-sounding. You can thank kiiryu for that little gem.
